Christmas hustle and bustle

I don't know if it's my getting older or what, but it's really a hassle sometimes getting everything ready for Christmas. I love the decorating and the fellowship, but buying the gifts is what drives me nuts. Sometimes I wish we could have Christmas be really simple. 1 homemade gift per person or at least a very inexpensive thoughtful gift. Some of my favorite gifts have been homemade and thoughtful. Christmas can be so commercial and it's getting to our kids, yes even my little angel of a daughter! We really do try to put the meaning back, but its so hard. I'll keep the faith, get through, and try to have a wonderful Christmas.

Getting geared up for Thanksgiving

It's Monday of Thanksgiving week. I wish it would get here already. I'm ready for some time off. We visited my parents yesterday and we're going to see Harvey's Dad on Saturday. We had planned on 2 days, but with the late change in sleeping accomodations, we are only staying 1. It works out better this way. We get to have all day Sunday at home to recover from the vacation. Maybe we'll even get into Christmas decorating. Theresa and I have loads of fun doing that. Little Harvey will be almost 7 months at Christmas and I know he'll love all the colorful lights and decorations. I'm really tired today--fighting allergies and still getting over our trip yesterday. I guess I'm not as young as I used to be. I just might be getting a little grumpy in my old age (ha ha ha ha). That's me laughing. Well, until another time....

Daughter down with strep/ear infection

My daughter has come down with strep throat and an ear infection. She is almost 6 and has never had either of these. I swear...she's been sick more since she's started school than her whole life. She went to day care since she was 9mo old. It was always home-based, but there were always at least 4-5 other kids there at all times. Are school kids that much more disease-ridden? Maybe disease-ridden is too strong a word, but my gosh. We get notes home that say there was a kid with Mono at school, foot and mouth disease, and something else I can't remember. It makes you want to start home schooling. Anyway, she was so miserable that she was whimpering this morning. Theresa usually doesn't complain unless she feels really bad so I knew something was wrong. I thought the ear ache was from her getting hit in the face with a basketball yesterday....yes, another school related mishap. We got some meds to help her feel better. Thank goodness. I hate feeling helpless. I bet you moms out there know that feeling. I'm going to check on her. Until later...

Work week blues

Hi everyone. Do yall get the work week blues? Those days where you do your work, but are incredible distracted and wish you were on vacation? I'm having one of those days. I've been working so hard for the last month I'm beginning to run out of steam. This is my second week without my supervisor - he's on PTO (vacation) and I've been taking up the slack. As you can see, I'm blogging here so clearly...I'm really distracted. Hope you all are having a good week. I can't wait until the weekend! Only 3.5 days to go!!

September 2008 photos

These are some photos from September. Theresa went to her first school birthday party. It was held at a store called Libby Lu's. All the girls were dressed in Hannah Montana dresses and Theresa chose to wear the Hannah Montanna wig. They all got to wear makeup and get their nails done. She had a blast. We took little Harvey to the Fort Worth Zoo for his first zoo outing. He loved looking at all the trees and bamboo along the paths. He wasn't into the animals quite yet though. Have fun looking at the photos. Just click on the pic below.

My birthday

Today's my birthday. I'm 35 today. Funny...I don't feel 35. Somedays I feel like I'm 6 others I feel like I'm 50, but not 35. What is age anyway? I know it's a numerical value of how many years we have been on this earth, but does it have any other meaning. For some people, I guess it does, but not for me. I like celebrating my birthday and I must admit the presents are fun. It's good to kick back once a year and have a day for ME. I guess I like that aspect most of all. Happy Birthday to ME!! I don't know what's in store for today, but I hope it's fun. Gotta go.

First Blog

Hey dudes. I say that a lot lately since we call our new son "little dude". This is the name affectionately given to him by his big sister. So far the name has stuck. I think it's pretty cute. I've got to find out if I can post pics here. My website that I have our son's pics on is almost full. I'm cheap and got the free version. I thought if I can string things together, I can extend the "freeness". I'm not sure that that is a word. Oh well, it's my 2 cents anyway. Gotta go. More blog later. BTW, tomorrow's my 35th birthday. Yea!
